With Solstice, guitarist Adam Cicchillitti and bandoneonist Denis Plante, accompanied by the Montreal Classical Orchestra under the direction of Jean-Marie Zeitouni, present a unique project: placing the guitar and bandoneon at the heart of the symphony orchestra as fully integrated solo voices.Conceived as a point of balance, mirroring the solstice, the album explores the meeting of musical traditions from the North and the South. It creates a dialogue between the great works of Latin America and contemporary Canadian creation, within a universe nourished by dance rhythms, popular influences, and classical heritage. Several works by Astor Piazzolla are also presented in new orchestrations that reveal the full expressive richness of these instruments, rarely featured in a symphonic context.Through Solstice, the artists offer a powerful and contemporary vision: music of dialogue, migration, and transformation, where the guitar and bandoneon become the center of a vibrant and deeply human orchestral conversation.
