Pre-Order: L'Orfeo Blaserensemble - Wind Overtures Vol. 3 [CD]

If it is true that a real master is revealed only through limitation, then Georg Philipp Telemann with his overtures for wind instruments has provided the most compelling proof that he is indeed among them. Carin van Heerden and the L'Orfeo Wind Ensemble have already entertained us twice without showing the slightest sign of fatigue, with a selection of small-scale, heart-warming delights. This third release, too, is captivating from it's very first moments, creating a pull that is almost impossible to resist. Three oboes, two horns, a bassoon, a harpsichord and - in the opening march - a regimental drum treat us to an hour of welcome diversion. It's melodies and sounds are almost exuberant, for which, without wishing to pre-empt the critics' voices, a ""clear recommendation to all lovers of quintessential Baroque music"" will certainly be issued once again.
