US jazz organist Holmes started his recording career in the early 1960s, turning out a succession of beautiful albums that mined the soul-jazz groove - hence his nickname. He signed to Flying Dutchman in 1975. Producer Bob Thiele paired him up with legendary arranger Oliver Nelson and the result was this stunning album. The title track was written by Nelson for the popular TV show that featured Lee Majors and Holmes played the theme to perfection. The rest of the album was equally funky, with Holmes shining on tracks like 'Disc-O-Mite', 'Once Is Not Enough', 'Dumpy Mama' and 'Double Scale'. ""Six Million Dollar Man"" has been out of print on vinyl since it was originally released in America in 1975. Ace Records are delighted to put it back into record racks fully remastered and housed in a gatefold sleeve that faithfully replicates the original.
